Where To Eat Tacos in Boston + Beyond

1. Acitrón Cocina Mexicana (Arlington)

Experience first-hand how much Mexico’s food varies by region at Acitrón with their wide variety of offerings. The Margarita selection here is also outstanding, and those who love some heat will especially enjoy the Jalapeño Margarita. Be sure to sample the popular elote side dish - a half-ear of corn on the cob, rolled in cheese and spices.

2. Angela’s Cafe (East Boston)

Proprietor Angela Lopez started her culinary experience at age eight, falling in love with the culinary art of the Puebla region of Mexico and her mother’s home-cooking. She brings this to Boston with doubled-up corn tortillas, delicious al pastor tacos, and the Puebla specialty, tacos arabe.

3. Chilacates Mexican Taqueria (Jamaica Plain)

Outstanding Mexican street food made with fresh local ingredients make Chilacates a super popular local destination. Scarce seating makes this a best bet for Taco Tuesday takeout. Don’t miss their lengua and outstanding horchata.

4. El Potro Mexican Bar & Grill (Chelsea, Lowell, Malden, Somerville)

Mexican and Salvadoran meet in a festive, colorful local atmosphere, perfect for a family night out. Try the fish tacos and try to time your visit for one of their live music nights, featuring local band Mariachi Estampa de América.

5. José’s Mexican Restaurant (Cambridge)

This local gem offers authentic, homemade, Central Mexican favorites in a warm, homey atmosphere. With a wide selection of tequilas and margaritas, as well as locally sourced, farm-fresh ingredients, it’s easy to see why this restaurant is so popular. Tucked away on a mostly residential street, the atmosphere makes this spot perfect for a cozy date night.

6. La Victoria Taqueria (Arlington, Belmont, Beverly)

Perfectly made Al Pastor tacos, delicious tortas, and awesome homemade tortilla chips conspire to make this the perfect place to stop by for a quick meal or a takeout treat. La Victoria also offers vegetarian and wheat-free options.

7. Lone Star Taco Bar (Allston, Cambridge)

Beef barbacoa with avocado crema and pickled onion, chili mango aioli, and so much more make this an awesome stop for So Cal/Texas style Mexican cuisine. Try their inventive specials and wide selection of Mezcal.

8. Taco Loco (Somerville)

Taco Loco offers some of the tastiest, least expensive tacos and Mexican fare in the area. Don’t be deceived by the paper plates and plain atmosphere. You’ll find some of the best beef tongue, chicharrones, flautas, and fresh sopes here. And of course, tacos.

9. Taqueria El Amigo (Waltham)

This hard-to-find taqueria serves up some of Boston’s most authentic (and inexpensive) Mexican food. Try the Tacos Especiales to sample four of their fabulous tacos. Be sure to include al pastor and cabeza (beef cheek) tacos in the mix, as Taqueria El Amigo has a reputation for making some of the best.

10. Tenoch (Boston, Medford, Somerville, Melrose)

It’s not difficult to understand why there’s sometimes a bit of a wait at this local gem. Their signature tortas, tacos, enchiladas, and burritos have quickly developed a reputation for consistent quality and fresh flavors. Try the campechana filling, with carnitas, chorizo, and beans.

11. Adelita (Concord)

We pretty much want one of everything off the taco menu at Adelita, with a slight leaning toward the tacos de camarones, which includes sustainably farmed gulf shrimp topped with cilantro, pico de Gallo, guacamole and Oaxaca cheese.
